Dance was my first love. I would spend countless hours in front of my TV watching Barbie's Swan Lake over and over until eventually I danced along with every step. Thankfully, my mom put me in dance class soon after and my life in the arts had begun. My studio taught the The Cecchetti Method, and I was so excited when I went on pointe for the first time and passed my Exams! Along with ballet, I fell in love with tap (and Gene Kelly). I spent most of my childhood daydreaming like most, but instead of about imaginary friends or adventures I would choreograph in my head. Instead of going to pop concerts I begged to go see the touring companies of Riverdance and The Rockettes.Â
I first got the opportunity to scratch the choreographer itch in highschool--my director had asked if I would choreograph the audition dance for the spring musical, and the rest is history. I choreographed audtions, dances for the cheer team, the one act plays, and numbers in our musicals. Once I got to college I quickly began working as Dance Captain on many shows such as Children of Eden, Hello, Dolly! and Much Ado About Nothing. I then began choreographing for local high schools and community theatres in my free time.Â
While deepening my love and skill of choreography, I also discovered myself as a director. At NWU I directed two plays, choreographed the NWU Mainstage production of Little Women the Musical, and worked alongside Anne McAlexander as Assistant Director, Assistant Choreographer, and Assistant Music Director for Into The Woods. Since graduating I have continued to work as a freelance choreographer, and was even hired back at NWU as a guest artist to choreograph their production of We Are The Tigers.Â
My work is rooted in storytelling, character, and intention. It is my belief that movement should move the story forward when words alone cannot express. I love finding ways movement, staging, and other small details can highlight relationships, build the world, and bring a story to life. My process balances thoughtful preparation with room for collaborative discovery. I strive to create movement and staging into storytelling that feels unique, purposeful, and emotionally resonant. I am passionate about creating safe, collaborative spaces, which is why I am also working toward my Theatrical Intimacy Certification with TIE to further my commitment to thoughtful, consent-centered creative practices.
